The Mets’ minor league affiliates were much more successful than the major league club Friday night–Syracuse, Binghamton, and Brooklyn all picking up wins. There weren’t many standout performances, but Shintaro Fujinami notably struck out all three batters he faced in his rehab start for Binghamton. After Nolan McLean struggled to start the sixth inning, Fujinami entered the game in a bases-loaded, no-outs scenario.

Triple-A

Syracuse Mets (53-32) 4, Worcester Red Sox (40-45) 2

BOX SCORE

  • C Hayden Senger:1-for-3, 2B, 3 RBI, BB, K (.773 OPS)
  • LFYolmer Sánchez: 1-for-3, R, 2B, RBI, 2 BB (.676 OPS)
  • 2BLuke Ritter: 2-for-3, R, BB, K (.843 OPS)
  • SS Luisangel Acuña:0-for-4, BB (.684 OPS)

The Mets held the Woo Sox’s lineup in check en route to their 53rd win of the season. Syracuse was led by RBI efforts from Senger and Sánchez, who had the only extra-base hits from the Mets.

  • RHP Tylor Megill (1.42 ERA) 3 1/3 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 5 BB, 7 K (88 pitches/49 strikes)
  • LHP Tyler Jay1 2/3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K
  • LHP Danny Young1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K
  • LHP Josh Walker1 1/3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 0 K

Despite being widely ineffient with his pitches and giving up five walks, Megill was solid for the Mets. The Syracuse bullpen was nails behind Megill’s short start–as the major league Mets bullpen woes persist, Syracuse has plenty of arms performing well at the Triple-A level that could be called up. Some potential permanent replacements for the struggling Jake Diekman are lefties Danny Young and Josh Walker; both already had success in the majors in their careers.

Double-A

Binghamton Rumble Ponies (39-38) 7, Hartford Yard Goats (44-34) 3

BOX SCORE

  • LF Stanley Consuegra: 1-for-4, R, 2 RBI (.438 OPS)
  • PH JT Schwartz:1-for-1, R, 2 RBI (.827 OPS)
  • RF Matt Rudick: 3-for-4, 2 R, 2 2B (.700 OPS)
  • 2B Wyatt Young:2-for-3, 2 RBI, BB, K (.720 OPS)

Battling back from a 3-0 deficit in the seventh inning, the Rumble Ponies posted a six-run ninth inning to steal a win from the Hartford Yard Goats. Big games from Rudick and Young, combined with a clutch pinch-hit at-bat from Schwartz that gave Binghamton the lead, propelled the Ponies to the victory.

  • RHP Nolan McLean (5.45 ERA)5 IP, 8 H, 2 R (1 ER), 2 BB, 5 K (71 pitches/ 46 strikes)
  • RHP Shintaro Fujinami1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K

McLean has been searching for a quality start in Double-A and found it on Friday. Throwing only five innings and 71 pitches, McLean struck out five batters and, more importantly, did not allow a home run. Fujinami continued his rehab journey and was electric in his one inning–striking all three batters faced, despite coming into a bases-loaded situation.

High-A

Hudson Valley Renegades (40-38) 3, Brooklyn Cyclones (38-42) 8

BOX SCORE

  • RF Nick Morabito:2-for-4, 3 R, 3B, RBI, BB (.742 OPS)
  • SS Wilfredo Lara: 2-for-4, 2 RBI, BB (.691 OPS)
  • LFKarell Paz 2-for-4, R, 2B, 2 RBI, K (.577 OPS)

The Cyclones handled Hudson Valley in their Friday night matchup, winning 8-3. Leadoff man Nick Morabito had a day–bringing in a run, hitting a triple, and scoring three runs. Morabito has maintained his high average and on-base percentage (.286 and .370, respectively) since being promoted to High-A Brooklyn, which is known to be tough on hitters.

  • RHP Douglas Orellana(1.86 ERA) 1 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 1 K
  • RHP Jawilme Ramirez3 IP, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K

The Cyclones are slowly bringing back Orellana after coming on the injured list on June 23rd. He’s made three starts (2.1 IP) and has given up two earned runs and six hits. Orellana was dynamic in the first half of the season, pairing nicely with Jonah Tong in the Brooklyn rotation.

Low-A

St. Lucie Mets (27-53) 0, Daytona Tortugas (38-41) 3

BOX SCORE

  • 3B Diego Mosquera: 2-for-3, BB (.548 OPS)
  • SSBoston Baro: 1-for-5, 2B (.738 OPS)
  • 1B Ronald Hernandez: 1-for-3, BB (.753 OPS)

The St. Lucie Mets were shut out in their 3-0 loss to the Tortugas. The Mets’ offense didn’t have much going, collecting only five hits and going 0-for-9 in RISP scenarios.

  • RHP Nick Bautista III1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K

DSL Mets Blue lost 5-1 while the DSL Mets Orange squad won5-2.
