As promised last time, Thanos is here, ready to smash some heroes!

And the Avengers are ready to smash him back!

This batch thoroughly impressed me, I must say.

Adam Warlock is here, and he's determined to fight Thanos, the Mad Titan. He asks the Avengers to help.

He explains that Thanos fell in love with Death and killed a lot of people, including his own mother, which is how you know he's the real deal.

Suddenly, Spider-Man!

Thanos has been vanquished before, but he's back, and pissed off since Death abandoned him. So he got all 6 cosmic stones and fused them into a giant one.

Oh wow, we're really speedrunning Infinity War, huh!

Thanos plans to get Death back by destroying every star in the universe, which is completely batshit but also, I kind of love it. Love truly knows no bounds.

While Warlock is catching up everybody on who did what, Pip the Troll (don't ask me who that is) arrives on Sanctuary II and is surprised by Thanos.

Our heroes depart, and each one of them has a moment to collect their thoughts and fears, and it's remarkably well-written.

I didn't expect to actually be invested, but it reminds of the last issue of the Dark Phoenix saga in how grandiose it feels.

Suddenly...!

It's really impressive, actually.

Thor and Iron Man are deployed, and IM surmises that he can take care of the smaller ships, given how powerful Thor is...

And he would be right. How cool!

This is also really cool!

And this immediately what follows. The action sequence is really good, each Avenger has time to shine and it's overall well paced.

Unfortunately for Warlock, it turns out Thanos left his cherished Pip dead just for him to find on the vessel.

Warlock and Mar-Vell go to Thanos's ship first, they're quickly beaten, but then...

Damn, it's really a good issue.

Iron Man shatters the big gem. Thanos is quite enraged and disappears.

I was asking myself the same question, but you know what, the middle panel is incredibly raw and I don't need justification for that.

What I figure is that it's some sort of reincarnation thing à la Dax from DS9.

The dead hero awakens in the Soul Gem, with Gamora and Pip! Aww.

This is such a nice ending, I really love it! I'm sorry for all the pics, but it really was a stellar issue.

In the following issue, Peter is called in his dreams by Avenger Moon-Dragon, who makes him watch Infinity War and Endgame in 4K Ultra HD before DVDs even existed.

Except the happy end isn't quite there yet.

I gladly objectify the waking man. Well, he's already an object, but I'm looking respectfully.

In space, some stars discuss how it's totally fate that Peter and Ben Grimm aka The Thing fight together to save the universe. Huh-huh.

Spidey decides that he's going to need help, and naturally comes to the Fantastic Four. There, he finds Ben who just so happens to have a space shuttle ready for take off. And off they go!

I like how depressed Peter is. We rarely see him so quiet. It helps to convey the gravity of the situation.

The two heroes aren't doing too bad, but they eventually get knocked out.

Ooooooooh! Oh :( Wasn't it enough to give him peace?

Good for you, Spidey.

However, he changes his minds and successfully frees the Avengers, which I like because it's more of a Spidey thing. I couldn't see him quite fighting Thanos head-on.

Ah, I see again some of the brilliance of the previous issue.

Spidey successfully frees Adam Warlock from the globe that contained him, and the latter hero quickly annihilates Thanos. His crew surrenders immediately.

Aww.

Damn was that a great double issue. I largely preferred the first one, but the second one was fun too, wow.

Narrative - Analyzing the narrative structure of the MCU film Captain America Civil War.

In this blog post I will analyze the narrative structure of the film Captain America Civil War and how it unfolds in the later films of the franchise.

The 2016 release, Captain America Civil Waris a sequel of theCaptain America films by Marvel studios. Directed by the Russo brothers(Joe RussoandAnthony Russo), it is the thirteenth film in theMarvel Cinematic Universe. The film is based on the aftermath of the war from the the Avengers Age of Ultron, where there are civilian causalities after the war takes place, this results in political pressure to enforce asystem of accountability for the avengers that are called the Sokovia accords, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quocreates a dividebetween the Avengers, resulting in two camps, one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other one led byTony Stark who is in support of government authority over the avengers, thus the name civil war. During the war the family of the antagonist Helmut Zemo is killed and he in his mind holds the avengers accountable for it and seeks revenge and what better time to do that when the avengers are already in a rift. This can be seen during the end stages of the film when Zemo reveals his frustration and reasons for seeking revenge (Vid 1).

Further in the film, some avengers go through arrests because of the slick traps played by Zemo in order to set them up which upsets Steve and he decides to go after him. Tony and other avengers who are for the Sokovia accords try to stop Rogers and his allies who are against the accords in going after zemo. That is when the famous airport fight takes place in the film where avengers fight each other (Vid 2).

The important part of the film is the narrative behind the civil war, Tony Stark supported the government oversight as he had felt guilty for his role in creating Ultron and the devastation that Ultron had caused. He also felt that the Avengers needed to take more responsibility for the consequences that their actions had caused, as he did when he discoveredStark Industrieswas secretly shipping weapons to theTen Rings. However, Rogers was worried that the Avengers might be compromised if they came under the control of a third party. Anyone watching the film might empathize with Tony a bit but many would side with Rogers as the governments are usually corrupted and might lead to further problems. This film amazes me as it not just showcases a single narrative but it opens room to several other ones that the audience can relate to. Ofcourse the main narrative of the film is about who is right, Stark or Rogers but it also adds to other narratives, such as choosing accountability over freedom or in Zemo's case the need for revenge that might seem valid from his perspective, or in Tchalla's case his decision in not letting vengeance consume him (Vid 1). One interesting thing about the movie is that it leads us to believe that Tony is wrong and it is only in the Avengers Endgame where we get to see that Tony might have been right all along.

After the Battle of New York, Tony (Iron Man), who had nearly died in The Avengers, began to worry that there might be a superior threat to earth somewhere in the universe. In Iron Man 3 and Avengers Age of Ultron, he made this point multiple times, although it was ultimately largely disregarded. Nevertheless, he kept working to ensure that Earth was as prepared as possible for the eventual arrival of that unidentified threat and it is in Avengers Infinity War that his worries come out to be true on Thanos's arrival. This was one of the main reasons why Iron Man was actually for the Sokovia Accords inCaptain America Civil War, he wanted to keep the Avengers together for what was to come. Tony was never fully on board with giving all control to the government and the onlyreason why he signed the Sokovia Accordswas to keep the Avengers together, as the Avengers would have been a functioning unit. This revelation in the later film completely shifts the narrative of Tony being the wrong one to him being the voice of reason. The Civil War and the later films in general have been great stories that show us just how critical narratives can be as at one point of time the guy who is considered wrong turns out be the one who was right all along as stated by Ana Dumaraog, "In the Infinity Saga, Iron Man functioned as the liaison for the Avengers, handling official matters. Had they agreed on his plan to be open to the Sokovia Accords, he would have been an integral part of the negotiation process where he would have pushed for their rights. Between his personal traits and experience inIron Man 2, it would be safe to say that he would have successfully lobbied for what's best for Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Now that he is gone, and it's uncertain who exactly is spearheading the Avengers in the Multiverse Saga, it would be easier for any governing body to bully them into doing what they want and keep the Avengers scattered" (Dumaraog, 2024).

As humans we are a product of our decisions and our decisions are inspired by the narratives we form in our own minds just like in Tony's case, we might disagree with his decision but he is motivated with guilt and holds himself to be accountable. People who have experienced guilt of some kind in their own lives might choose to side with Tony whereas people who have experienced betrayal or frauds might side with Steve. This is a testimony as to how powerful narrative shaping can be when it comes to storytelling. Narratives hold the power to shape peoples opinion and also give meaning to the story and enable people to relate to the characters more. This movie inspired me to understand just how important it is to have a narrative in your story as it can help the viewer to relate and how we can lead the viewer to form their opinions.

i thought that the demifiend appearance in smtv was pretty much fanservice but the way the true demon ending goes alongside the fact smtv happens in a world lucifer won makes me think it'd be a sequel of sorts wouldn't it

what makes an alignment interesting has to do with how much it makes sense for the mouthpiece and the protagonist to choose them independent of morals... tde is nihilist and destructive but makes total sense as a revenge end

yosuga and going chaos in smtiv on the other hand is ???? because they complain about things that they themselves would be okay with in their own circumstances. they wouldn't comply with the own world they're trying to create and even through a vendetta perspective it's nonsensical

i looked up the nocturne drama cd and the protagonist is an original character that is an incel edgelord that simps for chiaki and at the end is killed by her FDKGHDFJ

i was worried for a sec that he was THE naoki from the game but nah our actual naoki is there but seen from a third person perspective. he thankfully is sorta like a chad too
